Now that I’m getting close to having some real boards ready for testing, it felt like it was time to launch the Etherkit/Applied Etherics chat server. I don’t use social media any more, but chat services are a great way to interact in real-time, something which can’t be done on Substack. This will become critical once people other than myself start attempting to build their own version of Project Yamhill.
How to Join
Etherkit chat is hosted on my own private server connected to the federated Element network. It functions similar to Discord and Slack, but is a decentralized, open service. If you already have an account on any federated server, you can join via this link. Otherwise, please follow the directions below to create your own free account:
Open the web app at this link: Element Web App
Click "Create Account"
You can either create a free account on matrix.org or use existing credentials such as Google, Facebook, Apple, or GitHub to sign in.
Once you have an account and are logged into the Element web app, click this link for the invitation to join the Etherkit server.
Paid Subscriber Chat Room
Paid subscribers can gain access to the private paid subscriber room by emailing me at nt7s@substack.com with your Matrix username or the email associated with it, where I will manually send you an invite. Note that this email address only allows through emails from paid subscribers.
What’s Next
Yes, I think this is the third time I’ve mentioned this, but the next post really will be about the Project Yamhill AF filters. I had a couple of minor emergencies which ate up my last two working days, so I’m a little behind the curve on this board design. I did generate filters in the TI web design tool, and now need to order some resistor and capacitor values that I don’t have on hand in order to breadboard the circuits to confirm that they work. In the mean time, I’ll be banging out the PCB design in KiCad. Stay tuned!
